  • Abstract
    Two methods of modelling the transients in synchronous generators for wind turbine are presented: computation of dynamic electromagnetic field and computation of equivalent circuit. The applicability of both methods is illustrated with calculation of sudden short circuit in a synchronous generator for wind turbine. Electrical and mechanical quantities obtained by calculations using both methods are compared, and differences explained. It is proven that the electromagnetic field calculation method is more adequate when modelling cases that require higher accuracy of computation.
