Abstract :
The paper discusses issues concerning prevention of power faults in the power grid with the assistance of power electronic systems such as Unified Power Flow Controllers. There is possibility to reduce fault current using the UPFC system, and provide necessary time for operation classical fault protections without breakdown in power grid. Proposed system can also work as typical UPFC system, it can compensate both voltage and current disturbances as well as stabilize voltage on the load. The paper describes results of computer simulation of the UPFC realized in Matlab/Simulink.
