Abstract
The paper compares several techniques used for size reduction of patch antennas. Step-by-step approach shows the obtainable reduction in size. The results are verified by calculation and measurements on prototypes. All antennas are designed for operation at 2 GHz and modifications are introduced in the patch in order to reduce the overall antenna size. Antenna input impedances, radiation patterns and gains are measured. Excellent agreement with simulation results is obtained.
