Importance of collecting and analyzing data on traffic flow load in urban environments

The paper presents an overview of the needs for high-quality traffic planning of intersections in peripheral areas of major urban centres. The sudden development of the mentioned areas results in their assimilation by the major urban area, thus merging the existing traffic network. This usually causes significant increase in the traffic load with unchanged traffic and technical conditions of the traffic network itself.
