Abstract
This paper presents a study on convergence of the direct discrete approach to the design of a non-uniform transmission line. The method was applied to a wide range of practical problems, including the design of microwave filters and impedance matching networks. The performance of the optimization algorithm was surprisingly good. The presented method is reliable and insensitive to numerical truncation errors. It doesn’t require a good starting point. Generated profiles satisfy technological constraints and are almost smooth.
