  • Abstract
A promising line of research attempts to bridge the gap between radar detector and radar tracker by means of considering jointly optimal parameter settings for both of these subsystems. This approach, which can also be considered as a form of feedback from the tracker to the detector results in an adaptive radar system. In the present work, we attempt to move in a direction to fulfill this promise by considering a particular online detector threshold adaptation scheme. By using a suitable functional approximation, we propose a closed-form solution to replace an iterative solution formulation, hopefully resulting in a better insight into the nature of the problem. The proposed solution approach dramatically reduces the computational complexity and hence increases the feasibility for an online application of the approach. Simulation results on relevant tracking scenarios demonstrate the behavior of the existing and proposed methods in tracking performance and computational complexity.
