Abstract :
The problems related to the video transmission in wireless peer-to-peer networks arise from the decentralized and dynamic behavior of these networks, drawbacks of wireless environment and diversity of user bandwidth and signal-to-noise ratio. Scalable video coding is a popular technique that offers simple and highly flexible solutions for video transmission over heterogeneous networks. User cooperation is a technique in which users coordinate to mitigate the system insufficiencies. In this paper we investigated the effects of scalable video coding and user cooperation on the video transmission in wireless peer-to-peer networks and found that both methods improve the quality of the received video.
