Abstract :
This paper examines fractional-order dynamics (derivatives of arbitrary real order) of the light amplification process in Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers. Mathematical model of this process includes the phenomenon of amplified spontaneous emission of ions. Fractional derivative type model provides a natural framework for generalization of a Bononi type nonlinear model in the controllable form. It is shown that ldquofractionalizationrdquo should be made so that the highest derivative remains of integer order. Our results are validated by experiment and numerical simulations.
