  • Abstract
New linearized output voltage control techniques for a quantum boost series resonant converter (SRC) are proposed to overcome the disadvantages of the quantum boost and buck-boost operation. The nonlinear dynamic model for a quantum SRC is simply linearized by two decoupling techniques, the state space averaging concept (SSAC) and the resonant current control method (RCCM), which are much simpler than the conventional local linearization technique and can also cover the entire control range. Using the averaged dynamic models, the multi-loop output voltage controllers are designed and the control ranges as well as the internal operating characteristics are analyzed in detail. With the proposed schemes, the output voltage can also be linearly and continuously controlled over the entire range of the output voltage. Furthermore, the buck operation can also be obtained without any change of the control circuit. The computer simulations and experimental results confirm the usefulness of the proposed techniques.
