Abstract
In the modern world, digital technology pertruded to many areas where it could not be used before because of the slow processing power. Today’s fast processors can for example process video in real time, enabling novel possibilities for real time interaction by detection and tracking of human motion. In this paper we present an application of this technology to arts by introducing a framework that integrates dance and video in an interactive virtual dance performance. Our system allows to define a set of visual markers and to associate them with visual icons in the interactive video. By tracking the markers, dance moves are transferred to the interactive video on screen in real time. We used standard tracking methods and modified them to support fast moving markers, small markers and discontinuous tracking of markers.
