Abstract :
The analysis of linear and non-linear properties of general multilayer fibers is discussed in the paper. First, the method for calculating electromagnetic field distribution, propagation constant and chromatic dispersion effects of modes in general multilayer optical fiber is described. The method is based on determining the poles and the residues of the spectral domain Green’s function of circular-cylindrical multilayer structure. Then, the non-linear properties are determined by solving the non-linear Schrödinger equation. Finally, the new types of photonic crystal fibers (PCF) are analyzed by decomposing the transverse electric field into a series of orthogonal modes and by solving the vector wave equation.
