Abstract :
The hydrodynamic torque converter (HTC) is very popular in power transmission systems because of its advantages, i.e. the capacity for damping of torsional vibrations or for an automatic change of the torque multiplication according to a change of load. The main HTC disadvantage is its low efficiency, but the influence of this can be reduced by the correct choice of operating conditions of an engine. A magnetic fluid is sensitive to magnetic field. It is a stable colloidal system consisting of very small ferromagnetic particles dispersed in a liquid carrier. The use of various magnetic fluids in HTC is examined.
