Abstract
This paper introduces a new cascade configuration of inverted T-type LC EMI chip filters. Initially, two different types of T-type LC filters, produced by a multilayer green sheet technology, were characterized and modeled in the frequency range from 0 to 3 GHz, and then combined into a cascade configuration of inverted T filters. The equivalent circuit model developed for the basic T-type LC chip was used to characterize this configuration using the schematic interface in Microwave Office (MWO), an integrated RF/Microwave design tool. MWO built-in electromagnetic simulator using geometric structure (EM) was further used to model and simulate the new EMI filters in an unbalanced configuration. All simulation results were compared with experimental results and mutual validity of the applied approaches was verified.
