Abstract :
An analytical method for the performance evaluation of adaptive multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) systems by a Markov model is proposed. The finite state Markov channel model parameters were determined by a new exact expression for level crossing rate of the signal to noise ratio at the output of MIMO with multichannel beamforming and imperfect channel state information. Using the developed model, we analyzed the average spectral efficiency and the residual packet error rate in system that combines multichannel beamforming, adaptive modulation and hybrid Automatic Repeat-reQuest (ARQ) procedures. The analytical results are given for Ricean propagation, imperfect channel state information and arbitrary channel matrix dimensions.
