Abstract
The uniformity of the axial intensity distribution of an axicon is very important in practical applications. However, its axial intensity distribution usually exhibits oscillations when an axicon is illuminated by a cohere wave. To uniform the axial intensity distribution within a desired range, an anamorphic binary axicon is proposed in our paper and obtained from an original binary axicon by optimization design. And the optimization tool is to combine a genetic algorithm (GA) with a rigorous electromagnetic computation method, which is a two-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (2-D FDTD) method in connection with Stratton-Chu formula (SCF). Numerical simulation result demonstrates that, compared with the original binary axicon, the anamorphic one can greatly improve the uniformity of the axial intensity distribution, when both are illuminated by a plane wave.
