Abstract
The paper proposes a new method of optimal input and output signal selection for wide-area controllers. The selection procedure employs the Sequential Orthogonalization (SO) algorithm. The method uses the geometric measures of controllability and observability. The selection method is illustrated on the New England Test System (NETS). Results showed applicability of the method for wide-area damping control applications.
