Abstract :
Forest fires are natural phenomena that cause significant economic damage and have quite devastating effect to the environment all over the world. In most cases they are caused by humans, so the human´s responsibility is to minimize damage caused by forest fires. Early forest fire detection, both quick and appropriate intervention is of vital importance for forest fire damage minimization. In both cases, forest fires during fire prevention stage and for firefighters´ distant video presence during fire fighting stage. In his paper the integration of advanced forest fire monitoring system with Geographical Information System is described. GIS data are used for user friendly multiple cameras control and for objects and fires geographical location determination using data extracted from live video images.
