  • Abstract
    This paper gives an overview of recently published results related to modeling the radio channel and performance evaluation including the radio channel. For small handheld devices the human hand often has large influence on the performance and therefore must be included in design and validation. An investigation methodology was therefore developed for the study of mobile-phone grip styles over a sample population of 100 subjects. Anther subject has been the radio channels between two persons with multiple transmit and receive antennas, i.e., body-to-body MIMO channels. This channel was characterized via numerous measurements in an indoor environment. The users´ blocking of the signals were found to be a major influence on the channels. The Doppler spectrum for randomly moving scatterers and fixed transceivers was studied for indoor environments. Theoretical expressions were derived and found to be in good agreement with spectra obtained from measurements. Finally, initial results are presented of work using the concept of diffuse scattering to predict the power distribution in indoor environments. Promising results were found with relatively low complexity.
