Abstract
Mobile telecom operators today are facing the challenge of securing and increasing customer experience. Taking into account the growing demand for high capacity data services, the key mechanism for offering improved QoS is resilience, which is highly dependent on the architectural design of the transport network. In order to achieve a high level of resilience, the mobile operators can consider two main strategies: the implementation of a GMPLS Control Plane in the existing transport network or the migration of the significant commercial traffic from the transport network to the IP/MPLS network. This paper focuses on the first strategy and proposes a design model for a reliable Data Communication Network, used for the Control Plane signaling required in GMPLS based networks.
