Abstract
A research on fault diagnosis in a voltage-fed inverter for induction motor drives has been conducted with the aid of the TCAD circuit simulator and the experimental laboratory unit. Classification and a base knowledge of failures has been derived from the frequency conversion chain of the decomposed power system. Sensor available variables are considered as stator currents and voltage across the filter capacitor. A method of fault diagnosis has been proposed based on current space vector trace inspection combined with the Fourier series processing. Simulation and experimental results on fault diagnosis during operation of 2.2 kW induction motor drive are given.
