Abstract
A new control approach for robust trajectory tracking of IM (induction motor) drive based on the combination of variable structure systems (VSS) theory and Lyapunov design method is presented. The developed control algorithm assures the continuity of the control input and consequently the chattering which has been considering as the main obstacle for applications of VSS is eliminated. The attractive properties of sliding mode control as robustness against parameter perturbations and disturbance rejection capability are preserved in the case of fulfilled matching condition. All theoretical issues are verified by experimental system.
