Abstract
In a todays telecom world, the most important demands that are put by the operators on the telecom equipment vendors are to provide as much high volume traffic, scalable products that will be as robust as possible in terms of node redundancy and further decrease of the system downtime. In order to meet all these requests, a change of the traditional architecture of the Mobile Switching Center (MSC) node from one processor system to multiprocessor system is introduced, offering a wide range of both new features and enhancements in scalability, node redundancy and in service performance. The MSC functionality is replicated over the cluster of central processors allowing the wide flexibility in node dimensioning and decreasing the system downtime duration for maintenance activities and system upgrade to zero.
