Abstract
This article shows a Bluetooth technology that has interesting applications for home and buildings; it could be also extended to any security system or access control points (e.g., garages). Design has been build up following a hierarchical scheme, starting from a simple and functional module and adding new features that will provide added value to final product. This will allow having a full product range with several features for final consumer or customer. This system development is low cost, autonomous, scalable (both in physical and functionality) and capable to be controlled and interacted by end user and other similar modules in range. Setting communication with it by final user is quite simple as well as cost effective, because universal key for these access points can be their own mobile phone or PDA. In addition Java based software is offered in order to enable friendly interface plus another software tool to manage control unit for system administrator (e.g., edition of authenticated users, download record files of event, data sharing with other modules in range, etc), contributing a value added to Bluetooth and to the mobile devices that integrate it.
