Abstract
Testing of variable speed drives is not yet subject to standards, although motor drives with the same general design may differ significantly in performance. Tests of efficiency, harmonic content, immunity to voltage sags and capacitor switching are developed and applied to a collection of 3 hp and 20 hp 480 V drives. The testing results are presented and analyzed. Recommendations are made for development of a standardized testing procedure in a ´realistic´ environment.
