Abstract :
All frame synchronization systems have a part that detects out-of-frame condition. This paper proposes a generalized sliding window algorithm for out-of-frame detection. This algorithm includes a large number of new schemes not previously considered. The essential statistical properties of the algorithm are given for a range of cases. The algorithm and the associated statistical analysis can be extended to sliding correlator techniques.
