Abstract :
In this paper we describe the design, key features and results obtained from the development of a generic platform usable for telemetry links and sensor network applications. Our target platform operates in the ISM band (433 MHz) and supports a variety of modulation and data handling options. The first part of the paper deals with design methodology, block organisation and some of the requirements made at the beginning of the project. Usability of the platform as a learning tool and its functionality in real world applications are discussed too. Practical aspects of implementation are dealed later. Key features like consumption, output power and compromises made are mentioned. Obtained measurements are presented to get a better understanding of the platform and see how much of the initial requirements did we satisfy.
