Abstract :
The susceptometer method is used to determine the magnetic susceptibility and the permanent magnetization of weakly-magnetized object through measurement of the force exerted on this object in the magnetic field gradient of a strong permanent magnet. In susceptometer method is essential to have a good estimation of the characteristics of this magnet. Experiments and measurements ware performed using a group of small cylindrical rare-earth magnets, and a very accurate electronic ultramicro-balance, in order to determine the magnitude m of the magnetic moment of each magnet from group. The method is based on measuring the attraction forces that occur between pairs of magnets, located at a relatively large distance between them, using a spacer.
