Abstract
The optical backbone networks are already well developed at telecom world. Public Railways companies are still in phase of defining and development of its telecommunication and signalization backbone network. This paper will describe problematic points of the development, integration and future extension of optical backbone networks. Also it will consider advantages and disadvantages of certain technologies and its usability for the future usage and extensions. It will cover not only the design the network for railways needs but it will also cover the ability to compete on open wholesale market.
