  • Abstract
At the time of low economic activities, low investments, and high investment risks as well as the highest competition ever, companies turn to the remaining human resources in an attempt to achieve market advantage through synergy. Large corporate systems are reducing the number of employees, shifting from rigid hierarchical and information channels to the more flexible ones, thus creating new values focused on the knowledge of an individual. Company information systems were created in the first place for the purpose of information distribution according to the top-down principle, with very limited possibilities for entering knowledge of personnel to the central database. From information and communication aspect, company systems have not evolved in accordance with the era we live in - a social network era. By analyzing the existing company systems and comparing them to the possibilities and advancement of public social networks, we point out the numerous possibilities offered by various components and types of social networking. The creation of new information and communication channels by means of a corporate portal provides new possibilities in doing business and organizational interaction.
