Abstract :
Process paradigm has been on the business radar for three decades now. It has often been presented as a viable alternative to functional way of conducting business. Many companies have tried to implement some of its principles, yet numerous have failed. We argue that one the main reasons is the diversity of discipline resulting in un-unified understanding of what the process paradigm really entails. In the paper we propose that business process orientation is the implementation of the process paradigm. We have conducted an extensive empirical study and subjected the data to advanced statistical analysis to build a comprehensive framework for understanding the dimensions of business process orientation.
