Abstract :
This paper deals with the design of current reference generator for optimal vector control in Cartesian coordinates of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM). The generator is the main part of basic design of wheel mounted drive for tram with IPMSM in the torque loop. The proposed control utilizes the maximum torque per ampere strategy (MTPA) up to the base speed and the maximum torque per flux strategy (MTPF) at high speeds (it can be comprehended as variable limitation of load angle at high speeds).
