Abstract :
Considers the H/sup /spl infin// control problem when there are dimensionality constraints (such as reduction of order) and informational restrictions (such as decentralization) on the controller, and develops a general methodology for solving such problems. The notion of a "structured cost-to-come function" is introduced, and it is shown how it can be used to construct optimally disturbance-attenuating controllers satisfying the given restrictions.
