Abstract
This paper examines the performance of the nonlinear Nordstrom-Robinson (NR) code on a dicode partial-response channel. A concatenated coding scheme consisting of a NR code and the biphase code without precoder gives a significant improvement of the free squared Euclidean distance, d/sub free//sup 2/, as compared to the Hamming distance-driven lower bound for the precoded (1-D) channel.
