Abstract :
In order to make comparative quality analysis of UMTS signal of mobile operators, measuring procedure realized with specialized ROMES (Rohde&Schwarz) measurement system is introduced and represented in this paper. The measurement campaign and the essentials for evaluating and interpreting the measurement results are shown. In order to make quality analysis of UMTS signal, following parameters were measured: Received Signal Code Power (RSCP), ratio of received energy per bit to the interference (Ec/Io), Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), number of successfully completed handovers and percentage of time spent in soft-handover mode, speech codec, Call Setup Time (C-ST), number of dropped and blocked calls. Based on obtained measurement results, comparative quality analysis of UMTS signal of public mobile operators was performed and appropriate conclusion was drawn.
