Loudness normalization

EBU has defined the causes of the problem of uneven loudness and formed a working group, PLOUD, dealing with loudness normalization of program material. PLOUD group issued a series of documents that define the loudness level descriptors, their recommended values and ways of measuring and monitoring audio signals for broadcasting, so the loudness level of program material could be uniform. The concept of loudness normalization marks a new era in measurement and monitoring of audio signals for broadcasting and is in the process of implementation in all European countries.
