Abstract :
In this paper, we propose an improved wall parameter estimation algorithm that can provide the unknown wall thickness and permittivity using time-delay-only through-wall radar measurements. The algorithm is based on measuring the time difference between echoes backscattered from the front and rear surface of the wall at different Tx-Rx antenna separations. The performance of our improved method is verified by an experiment with two real walls, and the measurement results show that even measuring the reflected signals only at two different antenna separations is now sufficient for estimating the unknown wall parameters.
