Abstract :
Knowledge of the basic parameters of a wall (thickness, relative permittivity) is especially important for the proper function of through-wall radar networks dedicated to tracking of moving targets. In this paper, we outline practicable, low-complex and effective method for the wall parameter estimation and their consequential application for the wall effect compensation. A performance of the methods is demonstrated by the processing of the radar signals acquired by single ultra-wideband (UWB) radar as well as UWB radar network. The obtained results confirm improved accuracy of the through-wall tracking comparable to the reference results acquired for directly measured wall parameters.
