Abstract
This article deals with the battery charger system of an automobile. This system is composed of an alternator, a passive rectifier and the DC/DC converter. Also, the battery´s charge and discharge cycles are studied taking into account different loads. The article´s introducing part begins with some generalities about alternators and continues with the presentation of the system to be studied. The article´s second section deals with the presentation of the reversed claw-pole machine. Following, the DC/DC converter is characterized and a battery model is proposed to be studied. In the end the behavior of the entire system is analyzed for speed variations and charge/discharge regimes of the battery.
