Microprocessor based pipe rupture monitoring system on pumped storage power plant Velebit

Pipe rupture monitoring system on PSPP Velebit is the first installed microprocessor based protection and monitoring system of large diameteres penstocks in Croatia. It is based on high precision measurement method as well as on protection algorithm implemented in process controller. Paper describes system overview, measurement method implemented in measurement units and protection algorithm implemented in process controllers. System implementation and future planned system integration are also shown.
