Abstract :
We present control designs for a general Moore-Greitzer one-mode model in the presence of limited actuator bandwidth. These designs guarantee that the bifurcation at the stall inception point will be supercritical, but offer no guarantee further away from the stall inception point. We show that /spl Phi/-feedback, demonstrated to be effective in suppressing surge in small-hysteresis compressors, can cause surge in deep-hysteresis compressors.
