  • Abstract
An overview of the group of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards that covers winding wires the most recent information on the status of both published standards and documents that are being developed to eventually become standards is given. The concentration emphasis is placed on methods of test, winding wire specifications and packaging. The most recent changes to the standards covering these basic areas are discussed. Frequent comparisons to existing areas covered under MW 1000 are given. The goal is to help manufacturers and users of winding wire realize that the international standards covering this product are based on common needs and have been developed and updated to keep them both current and relevant.
