Cooperative Emergency Communications

Abstract :
Emergency networks formed by First Responders are characterised by fairly dynamic topology fluctuations which makes them an area of interest for the incorporation of cooperative transmission and autonomic system design enhancements. It results mostly from the ad hoc nature of the networking environment of this type where the deployment of Relay Nodes embodied in Chief First Responders may vary over time. The paper discusses all these aspects jointly by investigating the instantiation of autonomic cooperative communications in an indoor cellular scenario, where emergency operation is orchestrated by the Mobile Emergency Operations Centre.
