Abstract :
We describe a delay-insensitive modular asynchronous arbiter circuit based on token-ring mutual exclusion. In the ring arbiter, only necessary correctness constraints are accounted for at the basic cell level, while sufficient constraints are provided at the ring structure level. By using this approach, a low-hardware complexity arbiter circuit is obtained. With a proper initialization, the arbiter circuit achieves high speed of operation.
