  • Abstract
The spread of activation in a heart with old myocardial infarction (MI) was modeled with the use of a finite element model. Corresponding parameters of three simplified cardiac generator models-multiple dipole (MD), the uniform dipole layer (TDL) and the "modified" UDL were computed The models were then used to simulate body surface potential maps (BSPMs). To be able to obtain the parameters for the UDL model, new surface of the heart, representing only the excitable tissue, was constructed. An approximated activation sequence was computed for the "modified" UDL model using the original heart surface. BSPMs obtained with the use of all three generators were very similar and reflected the changes of the cardiac electrical field caused by the MI.
