Abstract
In the intelligent network (IN) service control points (SCPs) working as central servers carry out service requests coming from service switching points (SSPs). This paper develops an effective SCP overload control method and evaluates its characteristics. The characteristics are compared with other methods (window and call gapping) under various overload traffic patterns by using the network simulator that models SCP, SSPs, and their relationships in the IN.
