  • Abstract
    This paper describes an efficient software implementation of an MPEG audio layer 3 decoder. Algorithmic refinements required to efficiently perform the large amount of digital signal processing operations on a general purpose processor are described, along with optimizations specific to execution on the Intel Pentium processor. To demonstrate the quality of our approach we present a benchmark against other known programs.
