Abstract :
The paper discusses the application of finite element method in the research of the magnetic field of induction motors having rotor cage asymmetry. Several quantities (magnetic vector potential, flux density, forces, torque, rotor and stator currents, mutual and leakage inductances) can be determined very precisely. This enables the study of increasing anomaly in magnetic field distribution in the cross-section of induction motors due to increasing broken rotor bars which results in a degradation of the steady-state and dynamic performance of induction motors.
