Abstract :
This study investigates the structure of Digital humanity research community by quantitatively analyzing Digital humanity research projects funded by Taiwan government in recent thirty years. Taiwan´s Digital humanity research networks composed by research community and knowledge distribution are quantitatively investigated by the use of network theory and Taiwan´s Digital humanity research map is created to obtain the purpose of two-dimensional visualization. The three-dimensional networks and two-dimensional knowledge maps on the basis of the Taiwan´s Digital humanity research projects can be depicted differently by choosing different information as network actor, e.g. institute department or keyword, to reflect Digital humanity research structures in macro, meso, and micro-levels, respectively. Digital humanity research projects are retrieved from GRB (Government Research Bulletin) database which archives research projects sponsored by Taiwan government. A total of 883 projects conducted by 117 institutes are retrieved in this study, a total of 2045 keywords are identified from the 883 projects for network construction. The obtained results can be used by the government to evaluate how to allocate research funding to the field of Digital humanity.
