Abstract :
Based on the theory of linear induction motor (LIM), this paper presents a strategy for driving vehicles climbing on erect steel plates. The novel strategy makes use of the steel plate as partial magnetic circuit of the LIM, which can provide thrust and attractive force simultaneously, and consequently, the vehicle structure is simplified. Experiment result obtained from a prototype shows the validity of the presented strategy.
