Abstract
A novel microstrip-fed fractal antenna is designed and fabricated to achieve the desired Ultra Wideband (UWB) features for Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) communication applications. The proposed antenna comes with a compact size of 34×32×1.6 mm3 and design simulations executed utilizing 3D Electromagnetic (EM) tool and its prototype is validated using Radio Frequency (RF) equipment. The antenna operates over the entire UWB band with nearly omnidirectional radiation patterns and observed a maximum gain of 4.83 dB with an impedance bandwidth of 7.90 GHz. Further, simulations have also done for 1 × 2 antenna array for better gain and performance.
